Who is responsible
The data controller is Florian Teatiu, The Nordic Challenge, Gothenburg, Sweden. Write to thenordicchallenge@gmail.com for anything on this page.
What we collect, and why
- Join a challenge form: first name, email, the challenges and news you pick, and, if you want, your city and a message. We use them only to send you what you picked: the starting point of a challenge or Arctic to Baltic news. Legal basis: your consent, given when you send the form.
- Arctic to Baltic application form: first name, email, your gender, your age range, the sport you would pick, where you live, how much you move today, whether you could be free for 10 days in early June 2027, why you want to take part, a link if you add one, and whether you want Arctic to Baltic news. We use them only to choose the people of the relay, to answer you, and to send you news if you ticked the box. Legal basis: your consent, given when you send the form.
- Documentary form: first name, last name, email, the number of seats you ask for, and whether you are fine with appearing in the photos and video of the evening. We use them to tell you the time and place of the screening, to know how many seats are taken, and to tell the crew who would rather stay out of shot. Legal basis: your consent.
- Emails you send us: your address and whatever you write. We keep them in our mailbox to answer you. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering the people who write to us.
- Server logs: our host records the usual technical data of any visit, including your IP address, for security and to keep the site running. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a site that works and is not attacked.
We ask for nothing else. There is no account to create, nothing to pay, and no profiling.
Who else sees it
- Netlify, Inc. hosts the site and stores what the forms send, on our behalf.
- Google (Gmail) carries and stores the emails we exchange with you, on our behalf.
Both are established in the United States, so your details are transferred outside the European Union. Both rely on the European Commission's adequacy decision for the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, and on standard contractual clauses. Nobody else receives your details. We never sell them, and we never pass them to our partners or sponsors.
How long we keep it
- Documentary form, including your answer about being filmed: deleted after the screening.
- Join a challenge form: kept until the end of Arctic to Baltic in summer 2027, then deleted.
- Arctic to Baltic application form: kept until the end of Arctic to Baltic in summer 2027, then deleted. If you are not chosen, you can ask us to delete your application at any time.
- Emails: deleted at the latest one year after our last exchange.
- Server logs: kept by our host for the short period its own policy sets.
You can ask us to delete your details at any time before that.
Your rights
You can ask to see your details, to correct them, to delete them, to limit or object to their use, or to receive them in a portable file. You can withdraw your consent whenever you want, which is as simple as giving it: write to thenordicchallenge@gmail.com, and we take you off the list. One line is enough, and you never have to say why. Withdrawing your consent does not undo what we sent before.
If you think we handle your details badly, you can complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY), imy.se, or to the authority of the country you live in.
Cookies and tracking
This site sets no cookie, stores nothing in your browser, and uses no analytics and no advertising pixel. Fonts, images and the video are served from this site alone, so no other company is contacted while you read it. Links to Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Strava reach those companies only when you click them, and what happens then is their business, not ours.
Children
Our challenges are open to everyone, but this site is not aimed at children. If you are under 13, ask a parent before you leave your details.
Changes
If we change how we handle your details, we change this page and the date at the top of it.
